That's a great idea in principle, but I don't know if any Lepas shells were kept apart from those collected from the flaperon.

Hi Trip, would you be interested in helping out with the NOAA drifter buoy and Lepas Anatifera project? If so, check out the Substack Chat. Hope to see you there. Keelie ☺️

Hi Jeff, I was thinking you might also use the drift data to work back to a starting point for each piece of debris. It might be interesting to see where that leads. In other words look for drifters that might be near a place and a time to where a piece of debris was found and then figure out where that drifter was in may 2014. There’s a lot reasons why this would be a challenge but I still think it might be interesting and it’s just a matter of using data already collected.

Jeff has started a Chat thread on Substack for the NOAA buoy and Lepas Anatifera project.

For those that don't know, the Chat icon looks like two speech bubbles overlapping. On the desktop version, the menu is on the left, it's the third icon down. On the app, the menu is at the bottom of the screen, it's the fourth icon.

See you over there

Keelie
