Since YouTube doesn't like my comment and seems to eat it or consider it as spam or something (I'm @philippkeks7790 over there) I'll try it here.

Godfrey mentioned the University of Liverpool, so he could speak about this: https://news.liverpool.ac.uk/2024/03/06/university-researchers-provide-statistical-expertise-to-help-locate-mh370/. No clue what research they did or still do.

Thanks for the head's up! It's a little depressing that the BBC is promoting this stuff now tbh. Will have to check it out I suppose.

Sorry you've been having trouble at YouTube. I just tried to search comments for your handle and I couldn't see any.

Maybe YouTube doesn‘t like posts with links to sites outside of YouTube in it. Well, if it works here it‘s fine I guess. No worries about my lost YouTube comments.

I researched a little and here is the article with a link to a paper with two other people (one is Prof. Maskell whom he mentioned): https://www.mh370search.com/2025/01/01/new-technology/. In the article they link to a paper in Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8q54o5btw9mfkc6io30ye/Global-Passive-Radar-01JAN2025.pdf?rlkey=kk4xbt04c8tlojs3j294lpljw&e=1&dl=0

I‘m a mechanical engineer and I did some research myself in the past, including publishing paper. To me this does not look like a peer-reviewed paper. More like some folks who have an idea they want to get out without going through the scientific process. On page 2 of the paper he writes:

“Prof. Simon Maskell is leading a team at Liverpool University conducting a large scale study into using the WSPR signals from radio amateurs to detect aircraft. The team are tracking thousands of aircraft and comparing the results captured in the WSPRnet database from the radio amateurs with the ADS-B position data transmitted by the aircraft. An international team of academics are being asked to peer review the results of the study prior to publication.” For whatever that’s worth.

The crucial point to me is that they've been working on this for years and haven't gotten anything peer reviewed. Meanwhile a lot of people who understand this stuff have piled on to say it's nuts. Unfortunately we very much live in a pre-press world where people make scientific claims before they've been accepted by a journal and honestly most journalists don't care.

I agree that most journalists don’t care and that’s a shame. I think the discussion on YT began with the question of research or peer-reviewed research on WSPR and MH370. So even according to Godfrey there is no peer-reviewed research today. Only him and two scientists who say it could be possible and some case-studies whom credibility I can’t judge. Which isn’t much in the scientific world.

YouTube really seems to delete all comments with links to prevent spam, regardless of the content.

If you need help with the German language or patents, just let me know. I’ve got some experience with both.
